Richmond collections come out of many kinds of homes. In the Fan and Museum District, cards may have spent decades in a rowhouse closet or a dry third-floor room. Church Hill, Northside, Bellevue, and Ginter Park have older houses where families uncover boxes during an estate cleanout. Forest Hill and Southside bring us everything from one childhood shoebox to shelves of binders saved through several moves. You do not need to identify or organize any of it before reaching out.
Basketball cards are our first interest, especially collections put together from the 1980s through the 2000s. Richmond lots often mix basketball with baseball and football, unopened packs, complete sets, magazines, and other sports items. A closed box does not tell us enough, so spread 10 to 15 card fronts on a table and take a photo from above. Also photograph anything shiny, anything still sealed, and cards already enclosed in hard plastic cases.
Most Richmond neighborhoods are about 15 to 25 minutes from our Glen Allen home base, depending on traffic and which side of the river you are on. Pickup can often happen the same day or the next day once we agree on the collection. We can meet at the house, an estate, an office, or another public place. For a larger lot, meeting at the seller's bank is also an option.
We buy whole collections so you do not have to learn card terms, price cards one at a time, or deal with leftovers. Some boxes, particularly mass-produced baseball from 1987 through 1994, are not worth much, and we will say so plainly. If you are worried about being lowballed, get a second offer. We are fine with that and will explain how we reached our number. Send the wide shot and the card-front photo through the form, and keep anything that means something to your family.
